seaside inspired espresso cups

This is a set of 4 cute ceramic espressocups, handmade by me on my potter’s wheel. I used speckled stoneware clay which clearly shows my seaside inspiration. I love going to the beach and feeling the sand between my toes. These cups have a delicate duckegg glaze on the inside and rim to enhance this ‘day at the beach’ feeling.
When I’m done throwing these, they are dried for about a day, after which they are carefully trimmed to give them a nice footring and makers mark. The bowls are dried some more before they go in the kiln for their first firing at 980 C for about 10 hrs. It takes another 18 hrs for the kiln is cool enough to be opened. Then they’re glazed and fired again to 1260 C. This kiln time will take about 36 hrs! And a lot of patience 😉 Then a lot of sanding to give them a nice smooth feel. After this they are all done and ready to be given a new life full of delicious espresso!
Since they are high fired, they are food safe and dishwasher safe, although I recommend hand washing since ceramics easily get chipped in a dish washer. They measure approx: 8 cm in diameter and 5 cm tall and take about 75 ml of coffee.
Now available in my shop. Treat them right and they will give you many years of great espresso! (If you’re a great coffee maker, that is…)
These are also available as a custom order if you want the bigger coffee cups (and even bigger tea mugs too), just let me know.
