coffee cups

coffee cups

These cups were the first thing people picked up and wanted to see up close, at my Christmas market.

These cups are decorated with decorations of blue swaying reeds and are perfect for coffee, tea or anything actually!

To make these mugs, I use the potter’s wheel to throw the shape. After a day or so the mug is what we call ‘leatherhard’ and is ready to be trimmed and given a nice footring. The mug has to dry for another few days before it is ready to be bisque fired to almost 1000 C! Then it is time for some decorating (blue) and glazing (white) and the mug is fired again, this time to 1260 C. It will take about 36 hrs before my kiln is cool enough so it can be opened to see if things worked out the way it was intented!

All my products are high fired and therefor waterproof and dishwasher safe, although I recommend handwash since dishwasher detergents can be harsh and ceramics easily get chipped in a dishwasher.

I have a set of these 2 and another (slightly different design) 6 available in my shop. Mugs can be purchased here.
